If was war time at Naze in Owerri North Local Government Area Wednesday when youths of the community invaded the premises housing buildings of shops belonging to the wielders and Allied workers.
Weekend Trumpeta learnt that the genesis of the crisis dates back to a land dispute between the Allied workers and Naze youths.
Narrating the incident to Weekend trumpeta,a member of the wielder’s Association, Emeka Iwuji, said the land they presently occupy was given to them by Governor Achike Udenwa.
He said “Udenwa gave us the land, the Administration of Governor Ohakim told us to make use of the land which we did.
Then, the place was in bad shape. No water, no electricity, nothing was in place here”.
It was gathered that members of the union said they collectively contributed to develop the land by making individual contributions that led to the construction of 11 shops which cost them the sum of #2 million naira.
The construction of the shops attracted the rage of Naze youths allegedly led by one Uche Theophilus who mobilized youths that went and demolished the buildings belonging to them.
