Youths In Imo Protest Incessant Cases Of Killings
Youths in Imo on Wednesday bared their mind over killings in the South East region.
The youths who stormed the Roads in Owerri, the Imo state capital protested over the killings in the area.
Adorned in different attires, with placards, banners and musical equipment and public address systems, the visibly enraged youths called for an end to killings in the region.
They also called for an immediate clampdown on the proliferation of small and medium weapons.
The youths said that until everybody realized that peace was paramount for nation building, the south East zone and nay the country would continue to experience crisis.
Speaking, Kingsley Ikem said that they were tired of the insecurity ravaging the zone.
He said “we are here as the true owners of this country to say that enough is enough. South East is suffering untold and unimaginable things. Killings are ravaging our country. The unknown is happening in our land. We have come to say enough is enough. Let the people and the governments in the zone rise up to the occasion.
“This is not our way of life. This is not our ideology. We were not trained and groomed to spill blood. The sacredness of human lives in our land is up most. We are calling for an immediate stop to the blood- letting. Let there be peace in our land. We have bladed enough.”
