A former Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State, Dr Alex Obi is dead. Information available to Trumpeta said Dr Obi, who was sick briefly died while frantic efforts were being made to fly him out of the country for medical attention.
The news was received with sadness across political lines in Mbaise Nation, Imo State and Nigeria in general, with many asking why he should depart now that the nation and Imo State need his political experience.
Dr Alex Obi, before his death, was a Board of Trustee member BoT of PDP, a party he was the State Chairman and introduced various laudable policies, including purchase of vehicles for all the twenty seven LGA Chairmen in the State.
He was PDP Chairman during the Gov Achike Udenwa era, and was a political Bulldozer who contested for Imo Governorship seat and Federal House for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency.
