Suspected persons believed to be uniformed gunmen tormenting residents of Owerri and environs, have again struck to disturb the peace in the state.
This time, instead of their usual trademark of arresting suspected pro Biafra activists and ESN members, they uniformed men have added another fashion which includes rape of young women.
Trumpeta learnt that in Irete, outskirt of Owerri metropolis in Owerri West LGA of Imo State, some uniformed gunmen suspected to be anti Biafra agents reportedly stormed the community to search for members of the separatists group.
Instead of the arrests, the reportedly had canal knowledge of the two young girls who they met at the location. The armed men had moved into one of the residential areas in Irete. Their presence caused a stampede among the young men and elderly who ran away leaving some of the girls around.
On sighting the girls, the armed men were said to have used their rifles to surrender them and in the process got hold of the young ladies who were trapped in the building before the act was committed.
However, the matter has been reported to authorities while this newspaper learnt that the residents are traumatized after the incident.
It was discovered that the incident which happened on June 10th has Oluchi Iheanacho and Faith Chigozie Iheanacho as victims, though they were said to have been taking to an unknown health facility for treatment.
