WAEC HAMMER FALLS ON IMO STUDENTS, AS EXAM BODY WITHOLDS 167,486 RESULTS OVER ALLEGED MALPRACTICE MALPRACTICES

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the 2026 computer based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CBWASSCE) results for school candidate.

The commission’s revealed that 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61, 54 percent obtained the credit passes in at least five subjects including English and Maths.

Out of the registered candidates 1,950,726 for the examination conducted between April 24 and June 19, 2026.

WAEC disclosed that 1,687,378 candidate representing 86.50 percent obtained at least five subjects with or without English and Mathematics.

1,834,695 candidates representing 94.05 percent have had their result fully processed and released.

Result of 116,031 candidates are still being processed, WAEC also withheld the result of 167,486 candidates representing 8.50 percent over alleged examination malpractice.

Information revealed that the commission raised eyes brow over increased in the level of exam malpractice.

Hear in Imo State, many candidates could not get their result. We gathered that parent of those who were unable to get their result up-till now have written protest letters to WAEC.

It was alleged that many supervisors and invigilators aided the examination malpractice especially in the rural areas.

Many of the students were alleged to have contributed money which they gave to the invigilators and supervisors that came for the exams.

Most of the malpractices were noticed at the marking stage as we further gathered.

Finding revealed that the students made use of their handsets and other devices to perfect their examination fraud. It is most likely that the Ministry of Education will sanction invigilators and supervisors, that allegedly took part in the exam fraud.
