Mbaitoli LG Boss Ifunanya’s Open-Door Policy, Project Revolution Win Cross-Party Applause
An independent assessment of developments across Mbaitoli Local Government Area has reportedly attracted widespread commendation for the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo, with residents and stakeholders praising his open-door leadership style and what they described as an unprecedented project revolution across the communities. The commendation, according to stakeholders, cuts across political affiliations, with many residents acknowledging visible interventions in health, education, security, human capital and infrastructural development.
Particularly highlighted are the administration’s electrification projects, including the provision and energisation of transformers in communities that had previously remained without electricity, indiscriminate provision of solar powered boreholes in almost every community. The council has also embarked on the construction of lock-up shops and other facilities aimed at supporting local economic activities, while women and youths have benefited from empowerment initiatives designed to create sustainable and profitable sources of livelihood. “This is development that directly touches the lives of ordinary people. People can point to what they have benefited from the administration,” a stakeholder said.
The chairman’s interventions in human capital development have also attracted positive reactions, especially from women and youths who, according to stakeholders, have been provided with opportunities to become economically productive. “Instead of merely giving people temporary assistance, the administration is creating avenues for people to earn a living and support their families,” another stakeholder observed, adding that the empowerment programmes have contributed to renewed confidence in the local government.
A visit to the Mbaitoli Local Government headquarters further revealed the infrastructural transformation taking place within the council secretariat. The entire complex has reportedly received significant attention, including the construction of a new chairman’s office block, ICT block and other modern structures. A visitor to the secretariat described the development as a “masterclass transformation,” noting that a modern and functional administrative environment is essential for effective service delivery.
“What Ifunanya has done is unimaginable and deserves commendation,” a community stakeholder declared, reflecting the growing appreciation of the administration among residents. Another stakeholder stressed that the projects and open-door policy had helped bridge the gap between the council administration and the people, irrespective of party affiliation. They urged the chairman to sustain the momentum and ensure that the development drive reaches even more communities across Mbaitoli.
