The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Anayo okorocha has directed the Management of Imo State Traffic Management Authority, IMSTMA to down tools for one month.
Governor Okorocha gave the directive after an expanded exco meeting held at the Government House with top management officers of the traffic body in attendance.
Operations of the body according to the governor will be streamlined and fine-tuned to cushion the harsh effects on road users in the state.
The suspension according to Governor Okorocha will last for only one month as he constituted a five-man Committee headed by the Chief of Staff, COS, Chief Jude Ejiogu.
Meanwhile, indications are that Gov Okorocha may have decided to abolish the organization, even though it operates under a law enacted by the Imo state House of Assembly.
Lawyers who spoke to Trumpeta declared it was no responsibility of the State Governor to suspend the operations of IMSTMA, but the House of Assembly, if it founds operation of the organization inimical to the law that created it.
