Tragedy struck at Obazu Mberi in Mbaitoli LGA when a fierce ravaging fire burnt to ashes property worth over N20 million naira.
An eye witness account told Trumpeta that the fire which gutted a three bedroom bungalow occupied by Mr. Zinnas Ononiwu, and his family destroyed household and personal items such as cash, certificates, fridges, Motor spare parts and other valuables.
Narrating his ordeal to Journalists, Mr. Ononiwu, a pensioner said he was informed of the fire on phone and by the time he raced home, the fire had wreaked havoc. He declared that he was unable to recover any item, as he was unable to rescue or recover any of his household valuables.
Before the fire outbreak, Umudagu, a community also in Mbieri had witnessed havoc when the ancestral Uko tree said to be 400 years old fell and killed over 30 people.
