The Imo State House of Assembly, yesterday rejected the list of Commissioner Nominees brought to the legislature by the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for approval.
Impeccable sources told Trumpeta that the list which was the topic of discussion at the Executive sitting by the Lawmakers was thrown back to the Governor for further amendment.
It was learnt that true to Okorocha’s earlier vow that his new Commissioners would spread across Nigeria, it nearly came to pass had the House of Assembly not stood their ground.
Trumpeta was informed that the list included not only names from the entire South East, but most shockingly those from Northern part of Nigeria.
Therefore, the Imo Assembly who is still battling with the “Abortion Law” wahala had no option than to throw the list back to the Governor.
“My brother, some Hausa names were on the list. How do we explain this to Imo people? So, we had no alternative than to send it back the list” A Lawmaker told Trumpeta in confidence.
This Newspaper learn that Governor Okorocha may represent the list after some “panel beating” as the Lawmakers were said to have said they may tolerate names from South-East, but not from far North
