The centre can no longer hold in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Isiala Mbano LGA Chapter in Imo State, following counter accusations against members, over money said to have been given to the LGA officers during a Campaign Rally by one of the Governorship Aspirants of the party, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha who visited the LGA recently.
In a petition written by some members of the party, it was alleged that a sum of (N1m) one million Naira allegedly given to Chief Linus Ireoha (Bekebe) who is the State Organizing Secretary of the party, for onward transmission to the Isiala Mbano PDP Executive to prepare for a visit to the LGA, by Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha never reached the Executive.
The party has suspended the Isiala Mbano LGA Chairman Chief Ezubuike Ekwegh, and the Woman Leader, Mrs Florence Ohalete for allegedly indulging in actions inimical to the growth of the party, including not convening meetings, and involving in unruly conducts during the November 1, 2014 Ward Delegate Elections.
Speaking to Trumpeta on the issue of N1m allegedly given to him, Chief Ireoha (Bekebe) described the story as frivolous and damaging to his character, as he had instructed his Lawyers to study the matter and take appropriate action.
He said no body gave him any money. He also said the suspension of the LGA Chairman, Chief Ekwegh by the said members does not hold water, because they said members lack the power to suspend him, pointing out that both Chief Ekwegh and Mrs Ohalete are acting on Caretaker basis, which means they were not elected.
But Isiala Mbano PDP members who signed the document insist that Ekwegh and Ohalete are gone, while Ireoha is own his way out too as the entire members of Isiala Mbano PDP have lost confidence in him.
Meanwhile, an Eight-Man Disciplinary Committee has been constituted to try the suspended Chairman and Woman Leader.
It is made of Chief Sam Osuji as Chairman, Chief Anselem Uwakwe, Chief Victor Mbagwu, Chief Kennedy Chukwunonye, Evangelist Rose Kate Amazuo, Promise Ogueri and Chief Martin Osuji, who acts as the Secretary.
