The bill which was sponsored by the member representing Nkwerre State Constituency, Hon. Obinna Okwara and 7 of his colleagues, according to the sponsor will provide more academic opportunities for Imo indigenes.
Hon Okwara noted that construction is on going at the proposed site for the institution located at Ihitte Uboma and urged his colleagues o support the bill without any objection.
While supporting the bill, the member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency, in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Emeka Nwofor noted that the advantages associated with the Imo State College of Education, Technical, is enormous. He went further to enumerate the advantages to include that with the establishment of the institution, youths in the state will have technical knowledge of what they are studying. He also noted that with the sitting of the institution in a serene area in Ihitte Uboma, the environment is more conducive for academic activities then other institutions sited in urban areas.
Responding, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu noted that the bill will be referred to the committee of the whole and urged that the report be submitted on the 10th of December 20`3.
The house adjourned plenary till Tuesday 10th December 2013 to enable members attend the final burial right of Late Barr. D.C.O Njemanze (SAN) in Owerri.
