It could be recalled that ImoTrumpeta exclusively revealed how the state Government through the Commissioner for Health Dr. Obi Njoku entered into the concession agreement with a private firm, LANTECH solutions to manage thespecialistHospitalOwerri and 10 other scattered across the state.
According to the state chairman of the Health workersUnion, Dr. Darlington Akukwu, the workers will begin a strike next week to ensure that the Government rescinds the decision to privatize the Hospitals.
The workers who made their next plan known through their Union leader disclosed that the action of the State Government to give government hospitals to private operator is in contrast to section 10 (1&2) CapL1 Laws of the Federation, 2004.
While stating that despite the directives of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Productivity for Government to stay action on the matter, the State Government went ahead to privatize the hospitals and allegedly removed Doctors who challenged such action.
Already ImoTrumpeta gathered that the managements of the affected hospitals have been notified to be ready for necessary verifications before the LANTECH solutions takes-over.
