The former Secretary to the State Government SSG, Prof Anthony Awuka has stated that he has no regret for not being reappointed by Governor Okorocha.
In a chat with Trumpeta at the venue of the swearing in of appointees in Owerri, on Monday, Professor Anwuka said he played a formidable role when he served as the SSG and discharged his duties without fear or favour. According to him, the Governor has the power to appoint or reappoint whomsoever he feels would deliver as well as carry Imolites along.
“Okorocha did not make a wrong choice but am sure I gave him my best” the former SSG said.
Speaking further he said the second phase of Okorocha’s government is starting with the appointment of key officers “there is no doubt, they are going to do well in office” Anwuka also said.
On the issue of his nomination to serve in the federal Executive Council, Professor Anwuka said he is watching, adding that the Governor has made his own recommendation. “I await the President to decide who he may wish to work with” .
Governor Okorocha who praised Professor Anwuka during the swearing in ceremony cleared the air by declaring that he did not sack the former SSI but hinted that the former SSG truly discharged his duties well and prayed that he succeeds in his future endeavour. Other government officials who spoke to our reporter at the swearing ceremony described Anwuka as the hero of the rescue mission.
