As the barbaric practice of ” Osu Caste continues to eat deep into the believe of the Igbo Society, Bishop Stafford Nwaogu General Overseer Praise Centre International Church, Owerri has urged Christians, as a matter of urgency to see to the abolition of the practice.
Describing Osu Caste as man’s inhumanity to man, Bishop Nwaogu noted without equivocation that if Christians can meet at the Synod and agree on one voice to stop wake keepings, corps lying in the mortuary for 6months and above, then putting a stop to Osu Caste which has done more harm than good would be achieved.
According to him while briefing newsmen in his office, Wednesday, Osu Caste refers to those who are superstitiously believed to be slaves, hence the discrimination between the free born “diala” against Osu caste affects marriage and relationship as the freeborn is traditionally and socially abhorred and forbidden to marry an Osu.
According to him, giving birth to twins was an abomination during the olden days, if it could be abolished, why not Osu caste.
Meanwhile, as the decision of the US president, Donald Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel continues to generate series of reactions in Palestine and around the globe, Bishop Nwaogu lauded Trump, saying Trump has fulfilled his promise in confirming Jerusalem which is the land of the Jews capital of Israel.
Following the trend, he said this decision by Trump has raised what he described as global conspiracy against Israel as a nation and Christianity as a Faith.
The world has taken delight in keeping silence over crucial matters that are historically truth. It would be an embarrassment to parents when their children will ask if this Jerusalem is the same with that of the bible. If it is so, why is the world against Israel and President Trump. He averred.
