MBAITOLI LGA: BLEAK INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.
–As Herdsman kidnap occupants two 18-seater buses.
By Innocent Osuoha.
It was not fun as commuters stopped “at no man’s land” between Ogbaku/Umunoha in Mbaitoli LGA along Owerri- Onitsha road to behold two 18-seater buses which occupants have been evecuated by Fulani herdsmen.
A narrator, who pleaded anonymity, told this Paper that the incident happened around 6am(yesterday, 01/10/26) when Nigerians should believeably be celebrating their Independence anniversary.
The Narrator who said he was traveling to Onitsha from Owerri that morning, disclosed how their own bus had stopped suddenly and watched the fulanis operate from afar.
He said the heavily armed herdsmen had blocked the roads thereby forcing vehicles to arbitrarily stop.
According to him, ” as soon as they forced the two buses with inscriptions, “UKO AKWA IBOM MOTORS NIGERIA LTD” and “GOVERNMENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE”, the quickly marched the occupants into the nearby bush.
Trumpeta can authoritatively report that on “a good business day”, that parcel of land between Ogbaku/Umunoha/Eziama Obiato normally hosts about six check points mounted by the Police, FRSC and the permanent Army post at Eziama Obiato in Mbaitoli LGA.
However, at the time of filing this report, the Army and Police who thronged the scene were seen entering the nearby bushes.
