The reign of confusion ravaging the Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC is deepening with the Hilary Eke led faction arranging plans to field candidates for the scheduled Imo LGA elections.
There has been leadership tussle in the Imo State chapter of the party leading to the creation of two factios; the Allied Forces where a factional Exco led by Hilary Eke belongs and that of the Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Eke, before the Congresses was the State chairman and went further to win the exercise done before the courts nullified it last week.
Based on the case which has gone to the Appeal Court and considering that the status quo favours his Exco members at the ward, LGA and State levels, arrangements have been concluded by his faction to present candidates to also represent APC as against that of the Okorocha backed Imo APC under the leadership of an Acting Chairman, Chris Oguoma.
Trumpeta learnt that while the Eke led Exco are in search of a new office following Okorocha’s takeover of the APC office at Okigwe Road/IMSU junction abode in Owerri, all the LGA and Ward Chairmen have been directed to present candidates for the chairman and councillorship elections in line with the guideline of the State government owned electoral body; the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC.
A price tag has been given for the forms while screening committees have also been set up by all the LGAs to select the aspirants before primaries where necessary.
