Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has continued the distribution palliatives to Imo people to cussion the effect of hunger and bad condition which came as a result of fuel subsidy removal.
This time as we gathered from a reliable source, the palliatives will be distributed to the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State.
The first batch will commence from the office of Secretary to the State Government of Imo State on Tuesday 9th of April 2024 as DAGS in the LGAs take delivering of bags of rice, groundnut oil, beans and other palliatives for Local Government Areas.
The Governor had warned against diversion of the palliative by any Government official or political appointees as that will result to serious trouble.
It would be recalled that recently at the State Secretariat, Owerri the Governor flagged off the distribution of palliatives in Imo Sate Secretariat and immediately he left the Secretariat, there was serious crisis as many workers were reported to have attempted to loot the palliative materials. Many were even seen physically fighting, coupled with other irregularities that happened at the Secretariat during the distribution of the palliatives.
Concerned Imolites have also warned against using the palliatives to play politics this time.
It could be recalled that last year, many APC chieftains used the bags of rice given out by Government to settle only their political loyalists while people from other parties did not get anything at all.
This time concerned Imolites want Governor Uzodinma to issue directive for the palliative materials to get down to the grassroot where everybody will get atleast 10kg of rice.
“Let there be no segregation or dichotomy” oppositions group insist.
