The 2024 edition of the Chief of Naval Staff U-17 Women Football Tourney and the National Officers Wives U-14 Men Football Tourney was officially kicked off with fun fare at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday April 7, 2024.
The president of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigerian was ably represented by the First National Vice President, Mr Ndubuisi Sunny Opara who alongside the Chief Of Naval Staff who was also represented by Rear Admiral Christian Ekwo flagged off the tournament for both male and female.
The colourful event also witnessed match pass by all the teams representing well over 20 states.
The opening ceremony also witnessed the presence of the Enugu state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Ikechukwu Ekwerenmadu jnr who commended the organizers for finding their state worthy to host the grassroots and developmental tournament assuring the state governments support.
In the opening match which was between Enugu and Osun state, the Osun Girls defeated the host state 1-0.
