It was glamour as the Women of Owerri West LGA gathered at the Council headquarters, Umuguma, for the grand finale of their 2025 annual August meeting.
The women glamourously radiating in their numbers, under the auspices of the Chairperson Lolo Oluchi Precious Osigwe, showcased the agricultural products and cuisine for which the Owerri west LGA was known.
In her address, the Owerri west LGA Chairperson, Lolo Oluchi Precious Osigwe, described women as stabilizers both at homes and society and urged them to sustain the role by ensuring that they show interest in happenings around them.
She spoke of the need for women to focus attention on public health education as well as complement the efforts in enhancing enlightenment on environmental sanitation, the girl-child protection campaign as well as effective participation at the ongoing voters registration/ revalidation exercise and other government activities.
Lolo Osigwe also paid glowing tributes to Her Excellency Dr Mrs Chioma Uzodinma for her efforts in uplifting the status and living standard of women in the State.
The Chairperson then concluded by thanking the Women for coming out in their numbers and reminded them of the need to actively participate at the forthcoming Imo State grand finale of the August meeting coming up soon.
In his brief remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon Chief Nnamdi Osigwe expressed delight on the way the various autonomous Communities organized their 2025 August meetings having visited the Communities during the period.
He extolled the administrative dexterity of the distinquished Governor Uzodinma and his wife Barrister Chioma and called for all hands on deck in supporting the government.
The Executive Chairman also commended the women especially the Hausa Community for turning out in their numbers and urged them to replicate same at the forthcoming State grand finale.
Earlier while speaking , the Chairman of the occasion Sir Dr Fidel Onyeneke described the 2025 outing as extraordinary and thanked God for bringing all together.
Sir Fidel commended Lolo Osigwe for excellently organizing the Owerri west women for the outing and called for sustenance.
Highlight on the occasion which attracted the Political class, traditional rulers as well as prominent personalities in the area featured traditional dances, cutting of cake, march past and exhibition of agricultural products.
