MAMII ACTIVED IN IMO WITH AN ASSURANCE THAT NO PREGNANT WOMAN WOULD DIE GIVING BIRTH.

Following the activation of the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII), pregnant women have been assured of their safety while giving birth.

The assurance was made during the Activation ceremony of the MAMII initiative at Umuohiagu Health Center in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area by the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr Chioma Vivian Egu.

The Hon. Commissioner appreciated the President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister for Health Prof Mohammed Ali Pate for the initiative of ensuring that no pregnant woman dies while giving birth.

While emphasizing that the too many deaths that occurs durung child birth is not acceptable, the Hon. Commissioner stated that the MAMII program brings new Innovations and community centered strategy to ensure safe pregnancy and safe deliveries for mother’s across Nigeria.

She called on community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to always encourage the pregnant women to utilize the MAMII services for their own benefits.

Dr. Egu described the activation as timely, stating that it would straighten the State’s primary health care system, equip the health workers and bring lifesaving care closer to the women who needs it most..

The National Coordinator of MAMII, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, in his speach, informed that the MAMII is designed to ensure that pregnant women in Nigeria do not die during childbirth. He further informed of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration’s resolve to safe delivery for pregnant women by offering free cesarian section for pregnant women across the Nation.

Dr Dayo admonished the pregnant women to ensure they register for antinatal care at various health facilities for proper care and benefits. While Stating that the Federal and State Governments are collaborating ensure that ever pregnant woman delivers safely.

The State coordinator of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Chimezie Ezennabuike stated that many women in the State have benefited from the CEmONC services which includes free emergency transportation to health facilities and free cesarian sections. The beneficiaries of the program where on ground to testify.
