Anxiety, As Imo Govt Set to Give Appointment letters to newly recruited Teachers;

– Concerned Citizens Warn Against Manipulation of List, Imposition of Names

There was anxiety and panic last week over the released list of recruited teachers in Imo State. Information revealed that there were plans of top politicians to manipulate the names of the recruited Teachers.

Further information revealed that heavy-weight politicians are using the recruitment to play politics. It was reported that there were serious moves by politicians to bring in some names through the back door few days to the training week.

There are also serious indications that some of those names published in the newspapers since last month may not get appointment letters. Many who came to the training centre at Ihitte Uboma complained bitterly that their names were removed from the recruitment list.

When contacted on this issue, the Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) Chairman Hon. Chidi assured Imolites that there will be no manipulation at all, adding that any short fall in the list will be replaced from the list of those who passed the Exams in 2023.

He maintained that nobody will manipulate or impose any name in the list of recruited teachers.

It could be recalled that the recruitment exercise and exam took place in 2023 and for one reason or the other, the result was not released until few weeks ago as we gathered.

The most unfortunate thing as we were told was that some government officials allegedly using their position to bring in their relatives from the back door for them to receive the training and possibly collect the appointment letters.

We were told that 20,000 candidates took the Exams, 12,000 passed and 6,000 shortlisted.

In the 6,000 that were shortlisted since two yeas ago, many have absconded as we were reliably informed.
