Durugo Commends APC Government for Driving Digital Revolution in Imo

In a remarkable show of support for the ongoing digital transformation agenda of the Imo State Government, Hon. Samuel Durugo has joined the growing list of voices commending Governor Hope Uzodinma and his administration for their visionary investment in youth empowerment. The commendation follows the recent empowerment of the SkillUp Imo Cohort 3A trainees with start-up kits that include modern laptop computers of various brands; an initiative that has positioned Imo as one of Nigeria’s emerging technology hubs.

Hon. Durugo, in his remarks, lauded the governor’s foresight and the commitment of the Ministry of Digital Economy and E-Government under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner Hon Chimezie Amadi, for their proactive role in shaping a tech-driven future for Imo youths. He described the gesture as “a life-changing empowerment,” noting that the distribution of laptops to trained beneficiaries goes beyond politics; it is a practical investment in the knowledge economy and a strategic step toward reducing unemployment through digital inclusion.

He further extolled the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in the state for translating campaign promises into tangible actions that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens. According to him, the SkillUp Imo initiative demonstrates how governance can be used as a tool for transformation when leaders prioritize human capital development and the future of their young population.

Hon. Durugo also used the opportunity to admonish Imo youths to take full advantage of the digital empowerment programme, urging them not to sell or underutilize the start-up kits, but to use them to build skills, explore online opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to the state’s growing digital ecosystem. “This is the era of technology; every young person must update himself or herself to remain relevant in the modern and future world where tech is the watchword,” he emphasized.

He concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the governor’s vision to build a “Shared Prosperity State” driven by innovation and knowledge. Hon. Durugo expressed optimism that with consistent investment in technology education and digital empowerment, Imo State will soon become the Silicon Valley of the Southeast; a hub where creativity meets opportunity and where the youth are active contributors to economic growth.
