_โ€” Imo Governorโ€™s Daughter Celebrates Unsung Classroom Heroes, Empowers Law Students Alike_

It was a celebration of passion, gratitude, and vision on Friday, October 24, 2025, as Dr. Prada Uzodinma, Esq., daughter of the Governor of Imo State, unveiled her inspiring pet project โ€” the โ€œDear Teacher Campaignโ€ โ€” at Rockview Hotels, Owerri.

The campaign, described by many as a heartwarming tribute to the backbone of education, aims to spotlight, reward, and uplift teachers who serve selflessly, especially those in remote and underserved communities.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Uzodinma said the โ€œDear Teacherโ€ initiative was born out of her deep passion for human capacity development and a desire to give back to society.

โ€œI was trained by a good teacher, and that foundation shaped who I am today,โ€ she said. โ€œSociety often says a teacherโ€™s reward is in heaven, but I believe itโ€™s time we start bringing a piece of that heaven to them right here on earth.โ€

She emphasized that the program specifically targets teachers working in challenging environments โ€” those who often go unnoticed but continue to nurture the next generation of leaders.

โ€œI decided to do the extraordinary โ€” to identify teachers at their lowest, those away from the spotlight, and give them the recognition and encouragement they deserve,โ€ she added.

Two exceptional educators were recognized at the event: Mrs. Uchenwoke B. Chika and Miss Abigail K. Nzerem, both from Akatta Secondary School, Oru West LGA. They received resource packages and incentives to support their continued impact in the classroom.

The event also doubled as a showcase for beneficiaries of the Prada Uzodinma Imo Indigenous Scholarship Grant (PUIISG) โ€” a scheme supporting Imo-born law students. Two Imo State University students, Onuoha P. Onyinyechi and Ejiugwu Glory Chineyere, were celebrated for their academic excellence and dedication.

In emotional tributes, the beneficiaries thanked Dr. Uzodinma for her generosity and vowed to uphold the values of excellence and service that inspired the initiative. They also called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate her example in supporting education across Imo State.

Endorsing the campaign, Professor Ben Ikegwuoha, Imo State Commissioner for Education, and Hon. Emeka Mandala, Commissioner for Youths and Talent Hunt, described the โ€œDear Teacher Campaignโ€ as a โ€œtransformational ideaโ€ that should be institutionalized for the future.

Dr. Prada Uzodinma, while thanking guests and stakeholders for their support, pledged that the Dear Teacher Campaign would not be a one-off gesture but a sustained movement, even after her fatherโ€™s tenure as Governor ends.

โ€œThis is not about politics โ€” itโ€™s about purpose,โ€ she said with conviction. โ€œTeachers lit the torch that guided us all. Now, itโ€™s time to let that light shine back on them.โ€

  1. With โ€œDear Teacher,โ€ Dr. Prada Uzodinma may have just ignited a new culture of educational appreciation and human development in Imo State โ€” a campaign that could redefine how Nigeria celebrates its classroom heroes.
