Imo Assembly Adopts Nwaneri’s Motion, Crowns Uzodimma Most Education Friendly Governor In Nigeria

The academic-driven policies and programmes of Governor Hope Uzodimma in Imo State has attracted the ovation of Members of the (10th House) Imo State House of Assembly, by crowning him as most education friendly governor in Nigeria.

Rising from the resolution of the House in its plenary session on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the Lawmakers unanimously described him as the academic reformer the State ever had.

Mover of the motion and member for Oru East State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chigozie Nwaneri noted that Uzodimma has recorded giant strides in the education sector in the State and by extension, to the entire nation.

He listed the upgrade and subsequent graduation of Medical Doctors at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu, the ALVAN upgrade to a university status, the elevation of Imopoly Umuagwo among others.

“In all ramifications, His Excellency has exceedingly done well. Before he came onboard, graduation of Medical Doctors at IMSUTH was unattainable due to lost in accreditation, but now, hundreds have been graduated.

“He has done a lot when it comes to education. The ICT hub and Skillup Imo programmes are part of Uzodimma’s good gestures to the promotion of education in Imo State and for all the State owned high institutions, the graduates are positioned for employments across board”.

Nwaneri insisted that education being one of the best legacies by any government to secure the future of its teaming children as well as the fulcrum of the Children’s foundation in life, Uzodimma has effectively done his part.

Prayers of the motion also reads, “Appreciating the selfless determination and singular efforts of His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Dr. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State to reposition the Education sector with not only the provision of basic education Infrastructure and other facilities in the State but going ahead to establish new tertiary institutions like the recently approved Imo State University of Science, Innovation and Technology, Omuma by the National Universities Commission (NUC)”.

On the University of Science, Innovation and Technology, Omuma, Hon Nwaneri noted that it is the new vista for Scientific and Technology Development worldwide which the new Imo State University of Science, Innovation and technology will offer admissions to the teaming citizens of Imo State in search of higher education.

“Realising that the new University of Science, Innovation and Technology, Omuma strategically positioned to push Imo State to the pinnacle of Science, Innovation and Technology shall not only expend opportunities for higher education training but will also engender opportunities for research, training and development for use globally;

“Be it resolved by this Honourable House to congratulate His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Dr. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State on this well-deserved approval and recognition by the National Universities Commission (NUC);

“Be it also resolved by this Honourable House to name His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Dr. Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State as the most Education Friendly Governor in Nigeria”, the motion prayed.

The motion got overwhelming support of the Members who attributed Uzodimma’s elevation of education in the State as deserving of all the eulogies.

The plenary session was presided by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.
