The Chairman of Aify Global, Chief Engr. Athan Ifeanyi Nwagu, has called on residents of Imo State to preserve and promote the state’s long-standing reputation for hospitality and tourism excellence.

Chief Nwagu made this call after being honoured with the “Great Achiever Award” by the National Association of Electronic Media Presenters of Nigeria, in recognition of his charitable and humanitarian contributions to society.

While receiving the award, he commended the association’s chairman, Jerry Osuji, and the entire organising committee for the recognition, pledging to intensify his commitment to service to humanity.

Reacting to recent public concerns over an alleged decline in Imo State’s hospitality and tourism image, Nwagu urged Imolites to continuously project the peaceful, hospitable and welcoming spirit for which the state is widely known, noting that a state’s reputation is largely shaped by the attitudes and conduct of its people.

He emphasised that Imo State’s friendly culture and rich tourism potential remain major assets that must be protected and promoted by citizens, irrespective of their place of residence.

“Tourism thrives in an atmosphere of safety, cleanliness and respect for visitors,” he stated, adding that positive attitudes towards guests and investors would further position the state as a preferred destination for business, leisure and cultural exploration.

He further charged youths and community leaders to act as worthy ambassadors of the state by promoting peace, unity and responsible conduct, stressing that sustaining Imo’s good image is a collective responsibility.

He concluded by calling on stakeholders across sectors to collaborate in developing and showcasing Imo State’s tourism sites, cultural heritage and natural attractions for both local and international visitors.
