In an electrifying atmosphere of warmth, enthusiasm and solidarity, the women of Amaimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area on Sunday August 23rd, 2026, recieved Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi, at St. Columba’s Catholic Parish, Amaimo, during his ongoing Annual August Meeting tour across Owerri Zone.

 

The annual gathering which brought together a large number of women and critical stakeholders of the community including the clergy, the community chiefs and village heads who came to receive the senatorial candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) and engage with him on issues of community development, women empowerment, welfare and effective political representation. The reception was marked by expressions of goodwill and a strong endorsement of Amadi’s aspiration to represent Owerri Zone in the Senate.

 

 

Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs. Georginia Ohiri commended Mazi Amadi for what she described as his longstanding commitment to philanthropy, empowerment, capacity building and community development, noting that his record of service predates his entry into political contest.

 

“Over the years, your dedication to empowerment, capacity building and community development has spoken volumes even before you answered the high call to political service,” Mrs. Ohiri stated.

 

She noted that Amadi’s interventions over the years had demonstrated that genuine leadership is defined by service and visible impact rather than titles and promises. According to her, the women were particularly encouraged by the consistency of his interventions and his demonstratable commitment to improving the lives of ordinary people.

 

The women therefore declared their readiness to support his vision, describing his political aspiration as an opportunity to advance equitable development and secure more effective representation for the people of Owerri Zone.

 

“We see your political ambition not merely as a pursuit of office, but as a crusade for equitable development. We need a voice that will speak boldly for us where decisions are made,” the women declared.

 

 

Responding to the women, Amadi expressed appreciation for their warm reception and confidence in his aspiration. He emphasised that the role of women in community development, peace-building, family stability and economic advancement cannot be overemphasised.

 

 

He stated that women must have meaningful access to governance and decision-making, stressing that their participation in public affairs should extend beyond electoral mobilisation to active involvement in shaping policies and programmes that affect their lives and communities.

 

Amadi further identified access to business capital, quality healthcare, welfare support and sustainable economic opportunities as critical areas requiring deliberate attention. He maintained that empowering women is an investment in the family and, by extension, the entire community.

 

 

The senatorial candidate explained that his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to make life better for the people. He maintained that political office should not be pursued for its privileges but should serve as a platform for solving problems, creating opportunities and ensuring that the concerns of the people receive meaningful attention.

He said his vision is to build a model of representation in which the people are not merely remembered during elections but remain central to governance throughout the tenure of their representatives.

 

 

Amadi reiterated that Owerri Zone deserves leadership that understands the realities of its people, listens to their concerns and possesses the courage and capacity to speak for them where critical decisions are made.

 

 

In a significant demonstration of his usual commitment to community development, Mazi Chima Amadi made a donation of the sum of ₦3 million in support of the ongoing community projects being undertaken by the Amaimo women. The donation was received with appreciation and further reinforced the women’s assertion that his commitment to community development is demonstrated through practical action.

 

 

Amadi was accompanied to the event by members of his party and campaign organisation, prominent among whom were Chief Henry Onwukwe, Director-General; Chief Denis Okwu, APP House of Reps Candidate, Mbaitoli/Ikeduru; Chief Martins Ohanele, APP House of Assembly candidate, Ikeduru state constituency; Cajetan Duke; Prof. Uche Nwosu; Amb.
