Owerri ___ there is palpable fear and tension in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ngor Okpala LGA chapter following unresolved issues emanating from the recently concluded national Assembly primaries, our correspondent can authoritatively reveal

 

Our political correspondent who monitored the ruling party’s leadership meeting held at Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward 10, gathered that stakeholders and party faithful of APC who attended the meeting registered their displeasure over what they described as betrayal by party leaders in the LGA

 

The Ward Chairman, Mr Ogu Christopher who made the presentation on behalf of the party faithful informed the former Secretary to the Government of Imo State and gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of APC in 2023, Chief George Eche, noted that their son, Dr Chijioke Kaduru, a former senatorial aspirant invested hugely in the party through his foundation’s empowerment programs across the nine LGAs in Owerri zone.

 

Continuing, he said, Kaduru had been the only one funding party meetings in Ngor Okpala LGA where he disbursed the sum of five hundred thousand naira (500,000), each across the eleven political Wards, adding that what he got in return was sabotage from leaders of the party who preferred a senatorial candidate from Owerri North LGA.

 

Director General of NKWACHIKWERE Organization, Comr Chukwuma Anuforo disclosed that they had expected strategic meetings between Dr Chijioke Kaduru’s campaign team to get them properly fused in the scheme of things but some leaders were only interested in how to manage election funds instead of poaching party supporters who are aggrieved as a result of the outcome of the national Assembly primaries

 

Anuforo said this development has led to mass exodus in the party on a daily basis across the eleven political Wards in the area “APC card carrying members are moving in droves and positioning themselves in the opposition s Action Peoples Party, APP. Ngor Okpala electorates will vote massively for Mazi Chima Amadi of the APP if the leadership of the party at the state level doesn’t intervene”, he said.

 

NKWACHIKWERE Organization support base cuts across the nine LGAs in Owerri zone and our people are waiting for directives and which we shall definitely address in no distant time

 

Amongst the conditions NKWACHIKWERE Organization, a political structure of Dr Chijioke Kaduru presented was firstly, Dr Chijioke Kaduru to lead the Senate campaigns in Ngor Okpala LGA.

 

Secondly, every leader should relocate to his Ward and Polling Units to work for the party and stop giving false hope that all is well in Ngor Okpala LGA

 

Thirdly, for the governor to call to order, leaders of the party who claim to be apex leader of the party while they no longer have electoral value in their respective Wards

 

Anuforo pleaded with Chief George Eche to distance himself from leaders whom he described as forces militating against the development of Ngor Okpala LGA

 

Adding that if these conditions are not met, APC will experience abysmal failure during the general election.

 

“Dr Chima Amadi (Mazi Gburugburu), has penetrated our strong holds and if nothing is done, Ngor Okpala LGA would be a walk_over for him come January 16th, 2027,” Anuforo added

 

Responding, the former Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief George Eche aligned himself with the call by his Ward party stakeholders and supporters, while adding that he will not oppose the aspiration of any APC aspirant from Ngor Okpala LGA but accused Okenze Sylvester Obinna for failing to provide leadership when needed. Continuing, he appealed for calm as he assured of continued engagements in a bid to proffer solution to the looming implosion in the party.

 

Meanwhile, political watchers have viewed this development as a massive endorsement for the Senate candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP, Dr Matthew Chima Amadi.

 

We gathered also that the LGA Chairman of the ruling party APC in Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon Daberichi Akwa had reached out to the Ward 10 Chairman, Mr Ogu Christopher to do a rejoinder to the earlier publication where they gave conditions before supporting Prince Alex Mbata, the APC Senate candidate, but the chairman declined on the ground that he aligns with the decision of his party faithful.

 

According to him, “which publication should I refute, is it the one that the entire Ward stakeholders decided or the one made by the Director general of NKWACHIKWERE Organization. For your information, before and after the party Primaries, no leader has reached out to me to assist in party meetings except Comr Chukwuma Anuforo, I will always stand by him and his principal,” he said

 

Dr Chijioke Kaduru’s organic supporters across the nine LGAs in the Owerri zone are a big boost for the Action Peoples Party, APP if the ruling party fails to reach the conditions given to them by the NKWACHIKWERE Organization ahead of the January 16th national Assembly elections
