  • FUTO CARRY-OVER AND SPILL-OVER CANDIDATES

Only recently that it has come to the notice of Campus Gist crew that most student of the Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO tends to consistently have numbers of carry-over and spill-over candidates every session.

When our Campus Gist Crew who visited the institution asked why, some of the students who pleaded anonymity blamed it on infrastructural decay and lack of maintaining the existing ones, while some out rightly pointed Lectures threats and intimidations.

“It occurs in every institution, but in most cases it happens due to unseriousness on the part of the students” Miss Cynthia tells Campus Gist crew.

Meanwhile, Campus Gist Crew gathered that most Lecturers have taken it upon themselves to use the formal way of “teacher – students approach” in order to force some of the students who show lackadaisical approach towards education to be hardworking in order to reduce the risks of carry-over and spill-over.

  • BlackBerry (BB) Causes Havoc at IMSU

Students ofImoStateUniversity, IMSU, are now finding it difficult to concentrate on their studies.

This is coming as a result of the fact that any student who does not own blackberry would be seen as a village champion.  And to that effect, students of the institution are said to be doing all manner of illicit acts to own the telephone.  However, female students are said to be the major users of blackberry and with such development on ground, Campus Gist believes that if the menace is not checkmated by the government, it would go a long way in causing more harm to the students.

In a related development, Campus Gist has it on strong authority that both the female and male students engage in sex business in order to fetch money and buy blackberry.

A certain male student of the institution (names withheld) was approached by a lady, old enough to mother the guy, after having sex with him, the guy demanded money to buy blackberry phone, but the woman gave him what she had but the gut was dissatisfied with the little money giving to him by her mistress, he started raising alarm.

If not for the intervention of people around, the guy would have embarrassed the woman.

However, Campus Gist wonders if guys are now prostitutes.

  • Imo Poly Students versus APGA

Series of reports confirmed that students of Imo Polytechnic Umuagwo have sworn to devour every domestic animal and bird that comes across their abode.  The domestic animals and birds include cock (popularly referred to as APGA in solidarity to APGA political party that has cock as their symbol), turkey and even goat.  Umuagwo students mostly participate in this domestic hunting on weekends when they are less busy with academic activities.  The great Nigerian students of Imo Poly have different method of hunting their spree to keep the non members off from suspecting them or rising eye brow on their sacred hunting.  Using of corn, rice, beans and any other cash crop to catch their prey is the most common.  Whenever these APGA cabal see their desired prey, they threw it to it and as it draws close to get the food; rest in peace will become its name.  Another method of catching their prey is the one called satellite beam.  Satellite beam is the act of surrounding their prey and then drew nearer to catch it.  The last but not the least is hunting with stones and sticks but the likeability of their prey escaping is 75%.  The students also fashioned way preparing their captured goat.  This is done by scraping their hairs with shaving sticks instead of roasting it.  The students do this to play safe from the owners of the goat because its smell when roasted which would implicate them.  Na bad economy cause am oh!

  • Agony of UniUyo Graduate

Read carefully and send in your candid opinion on this matter if you were in the shoes of this lady whose story is been told?

    Her story:

My husband came home one night calm and happy.  I was surprise but happy for him too for whatever that is making him happy.  Since that day, my husband has been out of control.

I came from a rich background and since I lost my dad two years ago, my husband became the Chief Executive officer of my dad’s company.  Actually it was in my dad’s will that when he dies, my husband will become the CEO and my only kid brother the Managing Director.

All my years as a wife, I have done everything in my power to be a good wife, a good mother and make things right.  Suddenly no matter what I do it is never good enough to my husband since he became the CEO of my dad’s company.  Honestly, this wasn’t the same Tayo I married.  Like I said, my parents were rich but they trained us their two children well.  I was working in my dad’s company until I had my second child.  My dad advised me to stay at home and take care of his grandchildren because I refused to get a maid and my grandma that was helping me passed on at the time (I forgot to tell you that I lost my mum five years ago).

However, I enjoyed every minute of being a wife and a mum until I lost my dad.

So on one faithful day, my husband came in, looked at me and said; “I don’t love you Kemi.  I never did.  I appreciate everything you have done but its time I move on with my life.  You can stay in this house, keep the cars and I will arrange for monthly allowance for you and my kids.  If your brother agrees with my lawyer’s terms, I will pay him off generously for his share in the company.  Thanks to your father I own the 70% of the company.  Don’t try to contest or fight this, it is clearly written in your father’s will remember.

I woke up the following day at the hospital and by my bed was dad’s lawyer.  She looked at me and smiled.

Two weeks later, the lawyer came to see me at home and to my surprise, she brought with her a letter handwritten by my father.  I wish I could hug my dad and tell him how much I missed him that very moment.

There was a clause in the will of my dad which says: If Tayo leaves me without any fault of mine, if he abandon me or if he dies before me, I will automatically take over the company.  Dad knew I could handle it.  I have been working in the company since my first year in the University.

Suddenly after this revelation of the clause in my dad’s will, Tayo, the same husband who abandoned us came back to the house two days after I saw dad’s letter, begging me to forgive him.

Should I forgive him?  What do you advice I do?  SEND YOUR COMMENT TO……….

  • Admission Racket in Imo Institution of Higher learning

    By Orji Sampson

Even as most of the high institutions in the state are still mid way into the second semester of this academic year, the fear and tension of admission runs has gripped the entire schools.

Having concluded with their internally conducted Post –UMEadmission test, candidates have been flooding the institutions in search of their names as released by the admission offices.

The recent promise made by the number one citizen of the state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, that Imo indigenes hence forth will not pay school fees in the state owned institutions of learning, has further heightened the tension surrounding the admission wahala.

Reports reaching “Campus Gist” informs that IMSU and Imo poly’s Management Board are taking measures to ensure that the number of admitted Imo indigenes does not jeopardize their means of internally generated revenue.

Campus Gist further gathered that unsuspecting candidates are being compelled by racketeers to part with huge sums like one hundred thousand naira to three hundred thousand (100, 000 – 300, 000), depending on the disciple of the choice to measure in.

One of the candidate’s who spoke to campus gist in form of anonymity said his parents paid to a staff in one of the state owned institution, the sum of the two hundred and fifty thousand naira (250, 000) to have her name on the merit list for one of the medical courses.

Concerned citizens in the State have lamented on the implications of the proposed free Tertiary education for Imo indigenes.  Some persons who spoke to campus gist had mixed feelings about the Governor’s gesture revealing that while it is good for a student already admitted, it becomes a danger to the aspiring candidates (Imo indigenes).

The Federal Institutions in the state on their own are not left out in the practice as Fedponek, FUTO and Alvan are all poised for action in the admission racket.

Reports have it that the first list of admitted candidates is already out in Fedponek and those candidates who didn’t use the school as their first and second choice during the jamb exam may not be favoured except you grease someone’s hands.

Parents and Guardians are now left in the pains of dolling out huge amount of money just to get their wards into the institutions of higher learning.

It must be noted that up there in the Northern states, their indigenes are pleaded with, to attend schools (in the best of environments) without paying kobo to anybody.  The question now is, are we truly part of nation endowed with natural resources?

  • Imo poly exam time table is out

Some hard working students of Imo State Polytechnic Umuagwo are putting in everything to pass their papers as the timetable for the examinations has been published.  These students bleed their mental resources day and night for good grades.  Others not so brilliant who rely on being assisted to scale through are busy perfecting their plans.  It is either “expo” nicknamed “microchips” or settlement of lecturers generally referred to as sorting in the academic circles.

For the ladies in this category, settlement of the lecturers is complemented with the offer of their womanhood.

Examination period is notorious for feigned sickness to attract sympathy and underserved marks from lecturers.

Summer schools open following school break

With the closure of primary and secondary schools in Imo state for the long term break, private summer schools or extra moral centres are once again bobbling as parents send their children to these centres, instead of them wasting their time at home.

While many of such centres are run for profit motives, some of them are run by non profit organizations such as churches.  The Campus Gist visited one of the non profit summer schools located at theEmmanuelCollegeSecondary school.  While speaking to our reporter, the Head of the deeper life church run summer school, Pastor Raymond Nweke said the reason for the establishment of the summer school was because of the high failure rate of students in public examinations.

According to him, the church he is representing,DeeperLifeChurch, organised a test for students in Mathematics and English, but in Mathematics only one student passed the exam.  He said this made the church to decide to organise the free summer school so as to help the students.

He stated that seasoned experts in mathematics have been recruited to teach the students on the subject and expressed the hope that at the end of the summer school, the students will be better off.

On the turnout of students, he said that the centre has witnessed a good turnout of students, with the number reaching 400. He however said the challenge they have is in terms of teaching manpower as the number of students they have is disproportionate to the number of teachers they have.

Pastor Nweke stated that an examination will be conducted for the students after the programme to evaluate their performances.

  • Detachable Nyash takes over Universities

Like the conventional sayings “that all that glitters is not gold” it has equal gotten to the watchful eyes of your favourite Campus Gist that most of those back sides and hip sides flaunted by our campus babes are artificial and detachable.

This was revealed to Campus Gist by a prominent dealer of the detachable nyash and hips in Owerri.  According to her, she said that the stuff is hot cake considering the demand from all the tertiary institution within Owerri and its environs.

When Campus Gist crew sampled opinions of some campus babes on the hot commodity in town, they did not deny the story, one Miss Ogadimma from IMSU said “Na today?  I don tee, life is all about packaging so babes got to package themselves very well to meet up to demand – you men love it that way”.

Another female student of Alvan, (AIFCE) is of the opinion that it is just fashion although she frowns over such attitude, which she referred to as a mere deceit and cautious ladies to be proud of their status, shapes and figure because it is the Lord’s doing.

An amazed male student of FUTO Mr James condemned the act saying that it will amount to catastroph when the man finds out that the girl shape is not real.

Consequently, Campus Gist leaves the ball on the court of our Aristoles (sugar daddies) and male folks to be weary of the hips and nyashes they see.  They could be not only artificial but also detachable!

  • FUTO AIRPORT SHOW

It is no longer gossip that students of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) do not have good toilet facilities in their hostels which have made them device ways of answering the call of nature with out bordering the school authorities.

As dynamic student of repute they have invented means like short-put where students use nylon and big papers to pass there excretes before throwing it into the bush the short put way and discovered the most outstanding Airport show to do their thing, the FUTOITE way.

The Airport is one of the most popular part of FUTO where students go into near by bushes to offload the un wanted food in theree system, there is no student in that school that has not gone to the Airport at least ones, friends and visitors of the school are not left out of the Airport pilgrimage.

Campus gist gathered that the place has become a must visit due to the fresh air that greets partakers which they do their thing.

One of the students, told campus gist that “when you squat do the thing you will not want to do when your are up, because of the kind of fresh breeze that blows you under helps to keep the ecosystem going and also fertilizes the soils for farmers.

However from all indications it seems that the Air port show could not be as a result of lack of toilet facilities but for the fun.

THE BB STYLE OF PROSTITUTION IN OUR VARSITIES

Imo state is virtually known for its hospitality and entertainment galore and as a result every business in the State revolves around the eruption of Hotels, brothels and joints that have taking over other activities in the State.

Talking about business in Owerri, one of the lucrative and fast growing businesses in the Heartland City is the Commercial Sex by our young ladies.

Recent investigation by “CAMPUS GIST” did reveal that our University girls are the most patronized of the sex hawkers who have fashioned a more modern way of attracting their customers in a more coperate manner without people observing their intentions.

Queenet, a student of Alvan Ikoku Fed College of Education who spoke to Campus gist said most of her school mates and that of IMSU use their BB (Black Berry) phones to ping their intended customers either from the Facebook or 2go chart rooms and after some conversation through the pinging device once the man’s pinging code number is gotten, a date is agreed with the man via charting in any of the big hotels in the city were the girls are usually regular customers.

Some of the advanced girls are said to have even opened special accounts in our reputable Banks were their customers lodge huge sum of money as deposits before they get down to the business, once she receives the alert on her phone.

This according to our source has helped the ladies to avoid placing or leaving their pictures with the hotel attendants for intending customers to make their choice.  With the help of BB pinging and posting of sexy images on the Facebook walls, the girls advertize their very attractive bodies when they place their naked pictures on their Facebook walls.

With the rate this trend of business is growing, Owerri may soon turn into the Italy of Nigeria in terms of commercial sex hawking.  Our schools instead of breeding sound graduates are breeding sound and sophisticated prostitutes with the most modern BB’S.

  • 2go WAHALA ON CAMPUS.

Societal innovation is a good thing when it has a positive impact on people’s lives, but when a trace of unpleasanty surrounds such innovation, its relevance becomes inconsequential. People, especially, students always abuse the systems of some social networks. This is because; they feel that there is a lot to gain if one should stay glued on the network. An investigation carried by POPULAR SIDE revealed that university students chat on 2go network, even during lecture hours. It is a despicable act, and government should intervene and save the future leaders.
