For people who are pitching the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressive Congress, APC over the show of shame at the Obiri Odenigbo Pavilion of the Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri recently, this revelation may shock them.
The APC members fired the highly respected Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, Anthony JV Obinna as they accuse him of supporting and working for his kinsman, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA to succeed Gov. Rochas Okorocha who is also contesting for second term in the forthcoming election.
The soft spoken aide from Okigwe zone revealed that the leadership of the APC and the state government knew what and where lied the interest of the Archbishop and the church that was why the APC came prepared to either make or marred the event.
It was also alleged that the Archbishop in a certain forum or mass had stated that, it was through the church debate that Okorocha became the governor and from all indications he will leave through the same debate.
He also said that, the Emekuku factor of Sir Jude Agbaso has left Gov. Okorocha but favours Capt. Ihenacho who is a respected son of Emekuku also the Catholic membership of which Okorocha’s is still a subject of debate in the state and beyond but Capt. Ihenacho is a known Catholic, donor and great support of the church financial all these he alleged are why the Archbishop and church is supporting and working for Ihenacho.
Speaking to our reporter the top aide of the governor state that “It is a well know fact that Archbishop is working for Ihenacho and the debate is one of the strategies to rubbish the incumbent governor like he did to Gov. Ikedi Ohakim in 2011.
The man who prefers anonymity wondered why the PDP and the APC are the only party being blamed for the unholy incident at the pavilion on that day when there were atleast nine guber candidates for the debate who must have come or sent their supporters ahead of their arrivals.
According to him, the whistle and red card in Imo State is now a common thing among every other party except the APC because the philosophy is against them and their candidate, Gov. Rochas Okorocha. “Therefore, I do not support any submission or argument that blames the PDP alone for the use of whistles and red-cared at the disrupted debate” he said.
