Despite losing everything they have worked hard for over the years and the severe pain father and son are going through in the hospital presently, the family of Mr Chukwuma Godstime Nnadi have continued to thank God for not allowing the mysterious fire that has rendered them homeless and penniless to consume the life of any member of their family.
It was a pathetic sight at the hospital to see the affected father and son scream and gnash their teeth in pain from their severely burnt body parts. The helpless Mrs Nkeiru Nnadi, who was seen traversing end to end of the children’s ward of the hospital, where her little son is receiving treatment to the male ward where her husband, Godstime is stationed for treatment, disclosed to Trumpeta that it was in a bid to save their son’s life that the husband sustained injuries.
When Trumpeta visited the fire scene at Mbaotu village, Ihiagwa in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, nothing was left of the house as everything except the blocks were reduced to ashes. The sight justified why the displaced family is grateful to God because without being told, no one will ever believe that the inhabitants of the building survived, considering the odd time of the mysterious fire.
The heartbroken wife and mother of the family, Mrs Nnadi, could barely control her tears while narrating their ordeal to Trumpeta. According to her, the fire started between 11pm and 12 midnight, from the roof of the building, when all the seven (7) members of the family have all gone to bed. She said that if not that a hand tapped her by the back, a hand she believed must be that of God, the entire 7 members of her family would have burnt to ashes like their properties.
Mrs Nnadi told this newspaper that not even a pin was retrieved from the house as the fire was so high that they focused on rescuing their five children who were fast asleep in their rooms. It was in the process that her husband, Godstime, sustained the severe burns.
It was also revealed that a huge amount of money Mr Godstime withdrew from the bank the previous day for an early morning transaction the following day were totally lost in the inferno.
Some residents of the area told Trumpeta that there is more to the fire than meets the eye. Some of them queried why the fire will start from the roof and why will it be that very day that Mr Godstime came home with huge sums of money.
Considering their situation now, they are soliciting for help/assistance from the well-meaning people, to help them pay their hospital bills and start life again. Any person that wants to assist the family should call 08139026556 or go to Mr Godtime Chukwuma Nnadi’s house in Mbaotu, Ihiagwa.
