Worried by the travails experienced by the people of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, an eminent philanthropist and grassroot mobilizer, Hon Emeka Ikedi, has declared his interest to contest for the Federal House of Representative election come 2019, as he takes his crusade to Mbaitoli.
The event which took place at the APGA party secretariat Nworieubi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area witnessed the heavy presence of party bigwigs and APGA faithful from Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru and beyond.
In his declaration speech, Hon Emeka Ikedi unequivocally stated that his intention to join the race was borne out of the desire for him to accept and answer the call of the people of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru to represent them at the Federal capital territory Abuja.
Hon. Ikedi who has a humble background, with positive pedigree of antecedence, vowed to curb the excesses of past leaders, by being the voice of the voiceless adding that he is ready to take Mbaitoli/Ikeduru to greater heights,
Hon Ikedi further urged the people of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru to opt for credible leaders with clean records who can speak in the interest of the people at the federal house instead of electing sleeping representatives, who cannot protect the interest of the citizens due to their past records, furthermore Hon. Ikedi promised to serve the people of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru with diligence, he assured them of effective representation, good governance, equity and fairness, if given the opportunity to serve, by being elected into the Federal House of Representative come 2019,
Hon. Ikedi commended party faithful in Mbaitoli LGA for finding him worthy as an advocate of good governance , reassuring them of transparency if elected come 2019;in his words’’ the reason I am here today in Mbaitoli is to tell APGA family, that I have answered the call, when the people of Mbatoli/Ikeduru gathered and called me to go to Abuja and represent them, I thought about it, told God , because without God we can do nothing, we need a voice in Mbaitoli, we need a credible leader not people with bad records or a sleeping representative, I have a clean record, I am a nobody, but I can be the voice of the voiceless, Jesus was the child of a carpenter, but he was crucified to save us, my plead is that if I am accepted to serve the good people of Mbaitoli Ikeduru, I will make laws that will benefit everybody, when I speak at Abuja your will feel it, I am equal to the task” he submitted, he also seized the platform to pledged his support to the physically challenged in Mbaitoli LGA, APGA party accommodation fee and kick off of free medical treatment in Mbaitoli LGA.
Speaking with newsmen immediately after the event the Umuagazie Umuofor Amaimo born selfless and astute philanthropist Hon. Ikedi stressed on the need for the youths to be liberated from poverty, he also pointed out poor infrastructural and rural development which has eaten deep into his constituency, he re-affirmed to make a change, of given the opportunity to serve”, he said I promise to make a positive impact on my people, our people has suffered alot, the youths are not exempted being a commoner I understand what it means to be poor, I feel the best way to help my people is to talk on their behalf, I don’t have money but the strength, we pay NEPA bills , we don’t see light, we use roads but no roads we should learn to patronize our rural traders, to enhance rural development. I will make a change he said,
Also speaking with newsmen the director general of Ikedi coalition for better (MBAIKE), Hon David Chibuike, obliged Mbaike citizen to support Hon Ikedi who according to him has been tested and trusted, describing him as a man with the qualities for effective representation, he cited some achievements he has made viz, youth empowerment, church support, series of free medical treatments equipping artisans, and others that has part smiles on the citizens, maintaining that the transparent nature of Hon Ikedi ‘’knows no bounds’’.
Speaking in agreement Hon John Okechukwu said ‘’Hon Emeka Ikedi is a credible man ‘’ you will not regret having him at the House of Representative come 2019 .
APGA chairman Mbaitoli LGA, Hon Thomas Nnanna applauded the efforts of Hon Emeka Ikedi.
Other dignitaries present include APGA Ward Leaders, party faithful, the physically challenged and other notable personalities.
