Aretola commends Obiji’s Gold medal victory in London

The Imo state Director of Sports, Mrs Chizotan Agbomma Aretola on Wednesday commended the efforts of Loveline Obiji who won Gold in the 82.5kg category power lifting contest at the London Paralympics games on Tuesday.

Obiji made a spectacle at the London Excel centre when she heaved 145kg in her second attempt and for her, it was mission accomplished.

Speaking to ‘Imo Trumpeta’ on the victorious achievement, Aretola expressed her happiness for the Imo state born Athlete who was participating in the Paralympics games for the first time.  She also said “Obiji’s victory inLondongoes a long way to illustrate the fact that Imo state is richly endowed with sporting talents as every great sports achievement recorded byNigeriahas always had the hands of an Imo indigene on it as Chituru Nwozuzu is also inLondon.  Loveline is our staff and has been training with our coaches here before the Paralympics and from her dedication to training it was obvious she will win inLondon”, said Chizotam.

In a related development, the sports Director also used the opportunity to state that her athletes are seriously getting ready for the coming festival in Lagos as the football team were at the time of writing this report playing a training match with the federation cup champions Heartland FC and others were also fine tuning their training programmes with their various coaches and sports heads.

Imo Athletes will in no distant time engage their Abia counterpart in a mini – zonal festival competition as the Zonal Acting Director called for a meeting at the Nguru centre on Wednesday.

Aretola concluded by saying that the state is gearing into a good shape for a fruitful outing inLagoscome November this year.
