Late Chyna Iwuanyanwu: A Media Icon, As Family Announces Death

The Group Chairman of Sungold Conglomerate and founder of ZARA Foundation, Chief Sir Chyna Iwuanyanwu is dead.

In a press release signed by his first son, Sir Amarachi Iwuanyanwu on behalf of Iwuanyanwu dynasty of Amuzi Dim Na Nume Isu in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo state, Sir Iwuanyanwu died on Wednesday morning 15th August 2018 after a brief illness.

Relations Consultant, a Specialist in Public Information Management, Politician, Philanthropist, Author and Business Magnate.

He had his early education at St Peters Primary School Ogbete Enugu, and St John’s School, Dim-Na-Nume Isu, Federal Government College Warri and the University of Lagos where he graduated with 2nd Class Upper Division in Mass Communications.

Chief (Sir) Chyna. Iwuanyanwu began to show exemplary leadership traits early in life, he was the Senior Prefect at the Federal Government College Warri in 1977. He was a foremost Students Union Activist and Clerk of the Student’s Union Parliament at the University of Lagos.

He was the Pioneer Chairman Federal Government College Warri Old Students Association, Abuja Branch and Pioneer Chairman University of Lagos Alumni Association Abuja Branch, current National President Federal Government College Warri Old Student Association USOSA.

He was a highly respected National Politician with an impressive democratic credential. He contested for the Nkwere, Isu, Nwangele Njaba Federal Constituency during the ill fated Sani Abacha Transition. He contested for the National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2008 and National Publicity Secretary of the party in the 2012/2015 National Convention.

He was the National Secretary Igbo Political Forum, an elite Organization of Igbo Political Leaders in Abuja and the founder, Centre for Igbo Civilization and Culture, also a member of South East Peoples Development Association and Patron Omenimo Group in Abuja.

He has had a successful career within the Media including Public Relations Officer NYSC Rivers State, Public Relations Officer Radio, Nigeria Enugu Zone, Public Relations Officer Imo House of Assembly, Nigeria Statesman, Champion Newspaper, Partnership Advertising Lagos, Guy Saries Advertising Lagos before establishing his own chain of businesses

Sir Iwuanyanwu was also a consummate philanthropist who was deeply involved in Education for the less Privileged, Rural Health Programmes, Women and Youth

Empowerment, Leadership Capacity Development, Good Governance and Transparency Initiatives.

He was a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations and Associate Member Institute of Management and the Publisher of, “Democracy Confidential an Abuja Celebrity Magazine.

In 2010, Sir Chyna Iwuanyanwu was a receiver of the Prestigious Nehemiah Award by the Arch Bishop of the Anglican Church Owerri Province and in 2011, he was honoured as a Knight of St Christopher in the Anglican Church of Nigeria, Orlu Diocese. He was a member of Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship Professional Chapter Abuja.

In 2013, he single handedly built an ultra modern Anglican Church in his Village Amuzi, Dim-Na-Nume Isu, Nwangele Local Government a covenant project following God’s Intervention in a strange ill health.

Chief Chyna Iwuanyanwu was also a Member of Ime Obi Ohaneze Ndigbo in Abuja. He holds a Traditional title of Ugochinyere Mba, Dim Na-Nume Isu where he was a former President General of the Town Union and now Chairman

According to the press release,” condolence registers have been opened at his residence in Graceland Estate Owerri and his country home in Amuzi Dim Na Nume Isu while the burial arrangements will be announced later.”
