In what could be termed a calculated attempt to disrupt the free flow of electoral process at a polling booth in lhiagwa Owerri West Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Finance, Ugochi Nnanna Okoro narrowly escaped mob attack by the youths of the area, last weekend.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the commissioner came in company of some boys numbering about 20, to the lhiagwa secondary school polling unit 003/009 to disrupt the ongoing voting exercise but was booed and chased out by the angry youths around.
“The Commission came with some of set boys numbering about 20 and wanted to enter each polling unit at the school, but she only succeeded in entering the first one. As she made attempt to enter the second unit, party agents refused”, he said.
“They started shouting at her, telling her to leave the place or they will beat the hell out of her, some even insulted her, calling her a foolish commissioner who has attracted nothing nor impacted the community. The policeman who came with her was not spared, but he scampered away to safety”, he stated.
Continuing, the source argued that Ugochi Nnanna Okoro claimed she came to give INEC officials feeding money for their stress, while maintaining that, she never offered such benevolence during the presidential election.
Information further revealed that she was played when a group of people who came to her residence a day before the election claiming to have decamped from PDP to AA, but all where a ploy to get her to release money for mobilization, which she did. None of them canvassed for AA, some did not even show up.
