Two times Secretary to the Imo State Government and former Federal Commissioner, Chief (Barr) Chris Okewulonu, has posited that the emergence of Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State, will mark the end of tyranny, greed, nepotism, lawlessness, land grabbing and suppression by those currently in authority in the State. He also said that Ihedioha’s victory is a reflection of his popularity and wish of majority of Imo people.

Chief Okewulonu, who was the Technical Adviser to Ihedioha, during the governorship election, made it clear that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate is a further confirmation that Imo is a PDP State. He said that the eight years of the out-going administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha in the State, have left bitter memories in the minds of Imo people, stressing that the massive jubilation by Imo people at the declaration of Ihedioha as winner of the governorship election, was a reflection of acceptance by the people.

The PDP Chieftain pointed out that “Ihedioha known for his knack for hardwork and dexterity in public service will recover and rebuild the State already left in ruins by Okorocha”. According to him, “Ihedioha is experienced, hardworking, selfless and has the capacity to revive Imo. That is the cheering news. Imo is indeed liberated”.

He said that as “Ihedioha’s campaign Director General in 2015, we tried to let the people know what the State stands to benefit from Ihedioha’s leadership then, but enemies of democracy scuttled our efforts. I am happy that now, Imo people have appreciated our message of liberation, recovery and rebuilding of the State as well as the need to safeguard her from the hands of the oppressors of the people and economic plunderers.

Chief Okewulonu assured Imo people that the in-coming administration in the State would restore the lost glory of the State, positing that Ihedioha’s victory would eliminate despondency, avarice, nepotism and lawlessness in the State. He expressed the gratitude of the PDP to Imo people for their preference for the party, promising that the party will bring back good tidings to the State.
