As part of the parting gifts to Imo State people, the administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha has redesigned Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo by upgrading it to University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, while making Ehime Mbano campus of Imo State Polytechnic, now an autonomous institution.

Meanwhile, three more tertiary institutions, Mbonu Ojike National Polytechnic, Arodizuogu, Ahiazu Polytechnic Ahiara and Shanahan Polytechnic Orlu were also created.

Trumpeta learnt that the Imo State Government had already advertised for the position of Vice Chancellor for the University of Agriculture and Environmental Science, Umuagwo while Registrars and Rectors positions for the created Polytechnics.

It would be recalled that after two years in office, Okorocha balkanized the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo into a multi campus system with the Orlu Acquisition Skills Centre and Commerce College, Ehime Mbano serving as campuses. Later, Ahiara campus was added.

In a paid advertorial in one of the national dailies of Monday, courtesy of the Imo State Government, a page dedicated to Internal and External Advertisements for the post of Vice Chancellor for the University of Agriculture and Environmental Science, Umuagwo Imo State was placed.

Also advertised was for the post of Rectors and Registrars for the aforementioned Polytechnics.

According to the advert, applicants for the positions were asked to forward application to the consultant, C/O Senior Special Assistant Special Duties) office of the secretary of the Government of Imo State. Government House Annex, Owerri, Imo State.

Details made public by the Imo State Government have it that through Law No 4, 2019, a multi-campus University was established.

Similarly, same pattern was adopted in advertising the Rector and Registrars positions for the mentioned Polytechnics.
