Last Sunday, 25/8/19, prayer sessions in the  lkeduru Anglican Diocese and the entire Imo State was something else as the  Anglican faithful offered special prayers for the unconditional release  of Mrs Anuli  Maduwike, the wife of the Bishop of Ikeduru Anglican Diocese, who was kidnapped last Thursday 22/8/19.

An impeccable source told this Reporter that on that fateful day, Mrs Anuli Maduwike, her driver and a young lady (the brother’s daughter) were returning to Atta from Owerri around 9pm. They had hardly finished swimming the stretch of the “Ekemele River” when from nowhere their Sequiare Jeep was double crossed.

The occupants of the attacking vehicle alighted and possessed the Bishop’s wife’s Jeep, abducting her and others. The kidnappers abandoned their own vehicle and zoomed off towards Okigwe after scaring people with gun shots.

Our source said that as they drove towards Amaraku, the kidnappers discovered that the booth of the Jeep was shaking. They quickly stopped, switched vehicles and left the driver behind as they left with the woman and the lady.

On 23/8/19, the lady was released with wounds as a result of beating given to her. Late same day, the abductors opened communications demanding a ten million naira which they tagged release fee.

Mrs Anuli Maduwike, fondly called Nnedinma, teaches at Amaigbo Secondary School. She is of a humble background and born into the family of an Anglican Archdeacon in Inyishi, Ikeduru.

Our source said even from the den of her kidnappers, Mrs Maduwike directed that her mother’s birthday scheduled for last Saturday should not be cancelled.
