Imo Assembly IBC Correspondent, Imuche Chukwu Emerges NUJ IBC Chapel Chairman

 

 

Mr. Imuche Chukwu of the News and Current Affairs Department of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) has been elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), IBC Chapel.

 

Mr. Chukwu emerged unopposed during the chapel election held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the Central Reporting Unit of the corporation.

 

Other members elected into the executive include Mrs. Bernadine Ogu as Vice Chairman, Mr. Stanley Okehie as Secretary, and Mrs. Ogechi Obi as Treasurer.

 

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the State Chairman of the NUJ, Venerable Innocent Osuoha, commended the IBC Chapel for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election. He urged the newly elected executives to remain committed and ensure effective representation of the chapel at the state level.

 

Venerable Osuoha, who supervised the election on behalf of the State Executive Council, also encouraged the team to work in collaboration with the State Chairman to promote the growth of the union.

 

In his remarks, the Director of News and Current Affairs, IBC, Sir Reginald Mbajunwa, charged the new executive to live up to expectations and ensure that the chapel remains active and relevant in state union affairs.

 

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Chukwu pledged to adopt an open-door policy, promote inclusiveness, and ensure effective representation. He also called for the support and cooperation of members to advance the growth of the union within IBC and across the state.

 

The newly elected executive will pilot the affairs of the IBC Chapel for the next three years.
