State Government committed to strengthen IGR

The State Government says to ensure the sustainability of its economic growth there is the need to network various Internally Generated Revenue sources of the State into a strong platform.
The Accountant-General, Sir George Eche stated this in a message he sent to a workshop on “Sustaining Economic Growth” in Owerri.
Sir George Eche explained that the importance of employment generation targeted particularly at young people which is the policy of the present administration in the state cannot be over-emphasized.
He highlighted that the need to sustain and expand measures designed to tackle poverty and improve social welfare is being squarely addressed.
The Accountant-General noted that various reports indicate that some noticeable programmes by Imo State government and its Local Government towards the achievements of its MDGs as manifested in such indicators as Net-Primary School enrolment, child immunization, gender parity and containment of the spread of Malaria and HI V/AIDs are in front burner. Sir George Eche re-iterated the need for strong government policy growth and as one of the fastest growing state in the country.
The AG noted that across the state, fundamental changes are taking place which are likely to steer her towards domestic structural transformation and position the state to become a new source of global economic growth.
He described the cheerful development as an historic moment which is working with all the critical stakeholders of the economy, are determined to grasp for the betterment of our peop1e.
