‎Exempt Me From Anything Not Deep-Rooted In God, Akagburuonye Cries Out

‎

‎

‎

‎Barr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye, National Coordinator of Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation (Olile Anya Di Maka Odimma Ndimo), has declared that he would not associate himself with any project, programme or undertaking that is not deeply rooted in God.

‎

‎Akagburuonye made the declaration on Monday when members of the Ezinihitte Mbaise Brethren Movement for Barr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye, led by Rev. Komich Nwogu of the Assemblies of God Church, paid him a condolence and solidarity visit at Ogbor Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

‎

‎The delegation, which was accompanied by the group’s facilitator, Elder Onyebuchi Onyeikeegbulam, comprised more than 200 members who appeared in customized uniforms.

‎

‎Nwogu said the visit was primarily to condole with Akagburuonye over the death of his mother, Ezinne Monica Nwafor Akagburuonye-Amuchie, who died at the age of 105, as well as formally introduce the group and disclose its plans to be inaugurated as one of his support groups ahead of the 2027 Imo State governorship election.

‎

‎He said the group, which has been in existence for several months, planned to hold its inauguration immediately after the burial of Akagburuonye’s mother, scheduled for November 7, 2026.

‎

‎Reacting, an elated Akagburuonye said every political or social initiative associated with him must have God at its foundation.

‎

‎According to him, “whatever we are doing, we must be there to say, ‘God, look at us, we have come. We have chosen one or two things to do. We are totally weak, but You are strong. Come and pilot this affair for us.

‎

‎“The main inauguration is to commit the people to God’s hand and allow Him to take over the programme and project, because anything that is not deep-rooted in God, me, Success Obioma Akagburuonye, will never be part of it.

‎

‎“Definitely, it will be a shaky foundation, no matter how you celebrate it.”

‎

‎Akagburuonye directed the group to submit its inauguration planning report on or before Friday, October 9, 2026, stressing that the inauguration should take place on Sunday, October 11, at the Noah’s Ark Temple of Assemblies of God Church, Ogbor Uvuru Mbaise.

‎

‎Earlier, Onyeikeegbulam introduced the group as a self-funded organisation constituted across the 32 branches of the Assemblies of God Church in Ezinihitte Mbaise, with more than 1,000 members.

‎

‎He said the group had embarked on sensitisation campaigns among church members on the importance of obtaining Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), adding that a significant number of its members were assisted during the last INEC registration exercise to get PVC.

‎

‎According to him, the group had also sponsored its own “Have Your Own PVC” campaign and subsequently commenced meetings aimed at consolidating its political relevance and support for Akagburuonye.

‎

‎Onyeikeegbulam said the group’s members personally financed their customised uniforms and other expenses associated with the condolence visit.

‎

‎“We love and solidly support your ambition to govern Imo State come 2027. You are our political party; wherever you are, that is where we are,” he declared.

‎

‎The chairman of the group presented Akagburuonye with its membership registration documents and leadership structure, condolence letter, cartons of wine and customized uniforms.

‎

‎He explained that their action was also in line with biblical teachings that Christians should identify with one another both in times of celebration and mourning.

‎

‎Nwogu, while explaining the origin of the movement, said the group emerged from the April 2026 Easter Retreat of the Assemblies of God Church, following what he described as Akagburuonye’s contributions to the growth and upliftment of the church and its members in the Mbaise District and beyond.

‎

‎He said he was spiritually motivated to establish the group as a vehicle for mobilising support for Akagburuonye’s political ambition and philanthropic gestures.

‎

‎“I held serious consultations with some people in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area under Assemblies of God Church. I shared the vision with them and, by the special grace of God, they accepted it,” Nwogu said.

‎

‎He added that the group had spent about four to five months visiting branch churches, sensitizing members on the importance of PVCs and encouraging them to participate in elections.

‎

‎He claimed that about 95 per cent of Assemblies of God members in Ezinihitte Mbaise now possessed PVCs.

‎

‎Nwogu said the group had also taken responsibility for financing its activities, including its uniforms and the condolence visit, describing the gesture as an expression of its commitment to Akagburuonye’s 2027 ambition.

‎

‎The group requested that it be formally inaugurated, included in activities surrounding Akagburuonye’s mother’s burial and supported in its efforts to make PVC ownership one of its membership requirements.

‎

‎Onyeikeegbulam, in his remarks, described Akagburuonye as “the Success that will succeed Governor Hope Uzodimma,” arguing that success could only be achieved where there was hope.

‎

‎He said the group was also prepared to help protect votes at polling units across Ezinihitte Mbaise and reiterated its demand for formal recognition as one of Akagburuonye’s political support groups.

‎

‎He proposed the group’s slogan as, “From Hope to Success,” to which members responded, “With God, all things are possible!”

‎

‎Responding, Akagburuonye expressed appreciation to the group for its sacrifices, describing its emergence and support as evidence that nothing happens by chance.

‎

‎He said the proposed inauguration was important to his political agenda and directed the group to establish a planning committee immediately.

‎

‎“My mother’s burial is a state burial. We are going to have foreigners and so many dignitaries. I don’t want anybody to disturb you. I want people to appreciatively talk about you during and after the event,” he said.

‎

‎Akagburuonye therefore directed the group to organise its inauguration before the burial and submit a detailed report covering the proposed programme, venue and logistics.

‎

‎He also asked the group to make adequate arrangements for its members’ welfare throughout the burial programmes scheduled from November 2 to 8.

‎

‎“Once you constitute the planning committee, the way you are going to plan this group’s inauguration is equally the way you will plan your attendance, participation and welfare during the burial,” he said.

‎

‎He stressed that the inauguration should clearly define the group’s mission statement, objectives, political support structure and roadmap for achieving its goals.

‎

‎According to him, clearly defined programmes would make it easier for individuals and stakeholders to identify areas where they could contribute to the group’s activities.

‎

‎Akagburuonye further expressed confidence that the group’s mission was achievable with God at the centre of its activities.

‎

‎“I have severally said it and seen it that it’s only God—God, God, God. It can only be God, at all corners. So, why wouldn’t we succeed?” he asked.

‎

‎He described God as “the captain of this ship” and “the architect” of the projects and programmes of Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation, stressing that he had entrusted and surrendered the organisation’s activities to God.

‎

‎The business mogul turned political transformer commended the group for its motivation, commitment and financial sacrifices, adding that its activities were ultimately aimed at contributing to the betterment of society.

‎

‎“All of us here are equal before God, but with distinct opportunities. And most of these opportunities, you can definitely work out yourself,” Akagburuonye said.
