The 13thRepublicImoStateUniversity election for its Students Union Government Executive Council has been described as the most organised and transparent in the university.

The Vice – Chancellor of the university, Prof Berthran Nwoke made the remark in his speech on the occasion of its Inauguration ceremony at the university auditorium.

Prof Nwoke commended the Union Electoral Commission (UNECO) for heeding to the University management advice and the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Anthony Okere for the wonderful way he organised the election.

The Vice – Chancellor congratulated the winners on their victory and assured the losers that future elections may favour them.

Prof. Nwoke advised the executive council to always respect hierarchy in the institution warning that any day it challenged the authorities of the school, it will be dethroned.

He also charged the executive council not to destroy the students pointing out that some of them are into cultism and revealed that any day it uses their group to intimidate students, God will disgrace them.

The Vice Chancellor also stressed the need for the council to mobilize other students to pay their school fees, adding that anyone caught in examination malpractice will face the full wrath of the law.

The Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Okere reminded the University is in its hands to make or mar.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs, Chief Richard Okusun gave an assurance to accord priority attention to welfare of the students.

The Special Adviser advised students to prepare themselves for tomorrow, study hard and be outstanding, maintaining that their today will speak for their tomorrow.

In his inaugurated speech, the 13th Republic President, Comr. Rex Okoro disclosed that its programmes shall be targeted at improving the welfare of students.

Other members of the 13th Republic Executive council are Chima Arihilam – Director of Information, Oluchi Emereninim- Director of Treasury, Comr. Rotr. Kelechi Nwosu – Director of Transport and Hon. Rotr. Valentine Enyinnaya – Director of Welfare.

The rest include Comr; Juliet Oguzie – Vice President, Paschal Amadi – Secretary – General, Comr. Maxwell Eguzoro – Asst. Secretary – General, Comr . Rotr. Christopher Anyikamba – Director of Finance and Prince Sam Ezeanyika – SUG Staff Adviser.
