Barely seven days after his election as the next National Chairman of the Association of Traditional Rulers from Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON), His Royal Highness Eze Akuwueze Ralph Ikegwuruka last Monday July 15, 2013 narrowly escaped death following an attack by unknown gunmen.
The Royal Father who is also the current Chairman of the State Chapter of TROMPCON had gone to his office at the TROMPCON Secretariat adjacent ISOPADEC office complex new Owerri at about 2pm. Minutes after he alighted from his Land Rover Jeep with registration mark HRH02 EBM, a bullet hit his car through the bonnet of the car.
Police and the SSS are now investigating the remote and immediate cause of the incident with a view to tracing those behind the act.
It will be recalled that on the 8th of this month, Eze Ikegwuruka was elected new National Chairman of the TROMPCON in an election that was free and fair.
