Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro And Comrade Phoenis
Owen’s “the Hues And Cries Over Dissolution”
By Boni .O. Ofoegbu 08098633703
Most prominent men and women in the world like Zik of Africa, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, Margret Thatcher, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha etc have sound philosophy of life. To some people, their philosophy of life is hardwork, resilience. Others believe in patriotism and charity. But to some who have inordinate ambitions, their philosophy of life is pull-down syndrome; i.e running down leaders, constituted authorities both in the secular and spiritual spheres; who have achieved greatness through dint of hard work.
Therefore, the erstwhile Commissioner for Community Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Imo State, Lady Barrister Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro belongs to the leaders whose philosophies of lives are based on hardwork, resilience, truth, patriotism. Her philosophy of life forms her focus and direction in all aspects of life.
It is laughable that some envious detractors of Barrister Nnanna-Okoro, who are afraid of her profile that rises on daily basis, due to her guiding philosophy of life could disguise themselves under a pseudo-name (Comrade Phoenis Owen) who also maintains the colume, “AS NIGERIA TOURS” to write an article with the caption “THE HUES AND CRIES OVER DISSOLUTION” published on July 25th 2013 edition of Trumpeta Newspaper, attacking her personality. However, if not for the purpose of clarity and putting the records straight, one would have ignored the baseless tissues of lies, that the author articulated in his write up; with the intent to deceive the reading public. But before I go further in this reaction it will be proper to unmask “Comrade Phoenis Owen” as politician and a party officer in the opposition. As a columnist, he should not allow his party affiliation to always influence his writing. If he does not amend, I shall remove his disguise and name him and his party.
First and foremost, Barrister Nnanna-Okoro is a seasoned politician and media friendly, hence she usually interacts with journalists from time to time, even before her appointment as a Commissioner. Therefore on Friday, 19th of July 2013, during the handover exercise in her former Ministry, she invited some pressmen and in the course of answering questions from them, She commended Governor Okorocha for repositioning governance and transforming the State.” She further stated that the dissolution of the cabinet was normal and expressed gratitude to her Boss the Imo State Governor, Owelle Anayo Okorocha for giving her the opportunity to serve Imolities under the Rescue Mission Administration”. Moral lesson, taught us that when you appreciates goodness, good fortunes come to you, but it eludes someone who despises it. However, phoenis Owen and his cohorts are like dwarfs, who could only see further than a giant, when they have the giant’s shoulder to mount on; hence they implied that Nnanna-Okoro’s comment on the dissolution means that, “She is the most touched and surprised by the dissolution”.
Owen is also an ignoramus to have stated that the very day, the announcement was made, that Nnanna-Okoro was the Chief Registrar of the Court of Traditional justice at Ahiajoku Convention Centre? Where Governor Okorocha was dispensing justice to communities who have been embroiled in Chieftaincy disputes. In Owen’s words, “It never occurred to Ugochi that in few hours, she would seize to be the unusual Commissioner for Community Government and Chieftaincy Affairs”. Owen, like I said before proves to be an ignoramus, in the sense that he does not follow the trend of events. Governor Okorocha dissolved his cabinet on Wednesday 17th July, 2013 after the Executive Council Meeting. Lady Barrister Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro attended the on-going Ezeship dispute resolution meeting scheduled for Thursday 18th July, 2013. Therefore there was no Ezeship dispute resolution meeting at Ahiajoku Convention Centre or any other venue on the said date, the cabinet was dissolved, so his comments that it never occurred to Ugochi that in few hours, she would seize to be a Commissioner is baseless.
From the hack-writer’s article, one could see that he was only decoding the script of his paymasters, thus he described Barrister Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro’s appointment as the Commissioner for Community Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as being “anachronistic and misnomer”. He also sees it as unusual. Owen, if I may ask, what lessons have you learnt from history? Are you aware that women of substance such as Margret Thatcher, Professor Sirleaf Helen Johnson of Liberia, just to mention a few have been at the helm of affairs of their countries; Superintended over the cultural and traditional institutions in their countries? So why was Nnanna-Okoro’s appointment anachronistic? It is indeed phoenis Owen that is anachronistic since he has failed to realize that male chauvinism as an ancient and archaic phenomenon died centuries ago and is no longer fashionable.
Are you also aware that when Nnanna-Okoro was in charge of that Ministry, she had a harmonious working relationship with Imo Traditional Rulers, which the three Deputy Chairmen of Council of Traditional Ruler in the State can attest to this fact. Therefore, Owen, you could be best described as the grave that preaches short and pity sermon to the soul. You better take a look at your history, know where you are coming from and tell your sponsors, that your fight against Nnanna-Okoro, the Lady of the Masses, is as fruitless as water fetched with a basket or you will soon incure the wrath of God for lying against a dedicated and God-fearing woman.
According to James Allen and Orison Swett Marden in their book entitled, “The Secrets of Success in life,” success involves all facets of life – ones physical, mental, moral, spiritual and as well as economic well-being”. Therefore, going by this definition, Barrister Nnanna-Okoro could be aptly described as a successful woman, because she is an achiever, a legal practitioner, a seasoned politician, talented and contented and above all she is blessed with a successful husband and progressive children. In view of her background, it amounts to sheer madness for the columnist, to have written that, “There is only one reason, why she is talking too much about the dissolution. It is because, she is jittery of being reappointed”. Oh ! my God! I pity this hacker called phoenis Owen because he has not availed himself the honourable woman’s profile or he chose to ignore it in the unprofessional manner of a hackwriter, which I maintain he is.
According to Owen, “One thing is certain, she is likely to be reappointed, because she has not stayed long and we wish her to be reappointed, But there is no way she would be returned to that Ministry again, she is likely to be reassigned to another Ministry, but never Education. If she goes to Ministry of Women Affairs, “nsogbu” because her temperamental instincts would pitch her with women leaders in the State”
He contradicted himself, by acknowledging in one of the paragraphs in his write up, that she was once the PDP State Woman leader. The position which was given to her while she was in PDP due to her leadership qualities; which she proved by producing 52 female Councilors, female 8 Council Vice Chairmen, 3 female Council Chairmen and for the first time in the State, she withstood a well studded opposition to produce a female ALGON chairman. Owen was also deaf and blind for not acknowledging the litany of achievements Nnanna-Okoro recorded in the former Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Community Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as but Director of New Face Organisation, when she was in PDP and other places she has served, working harmoniously with her fellow women and men with her superb human relations.
Yes, Nnanna-Okoro said “PDP” will never win election again in Owerri West, I am in control of Owerri West, nobody can take it away from me”.. My dear Owen, you are very myopic and does not have the facts and figures of the Owerri West Local Government re-run election hence you asserted that “Asoluka sandwiched Nnanna-Okoro politically”. To put the records straight, on the day of the re-run election, Chris Asoluka was nowhere to be found in the whole Owerri West Local government Area. He ran away on Election Day in his ward even the State PDP Chairman, Barrister Eze Duruihuoma who was accompanied to Owerri West by some National and State executives of the party were put to shame as APGA won out-right in Owerri West re-run election. Where was Chief Chris Asoluka on that “election day to sandwich” Nnanna-Okoro which he has never succeeded in doing starting from Ihiagwa Ward which both of them belong to and the entire Owerri West Local Government Area. Barrister Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro’s 3 booths were delivered to APGA. The records are there at INEC. It is also on record that APGA won the highest votes in the over-all result of Owerri-West Local Government Area in the 2011 General Election.
In conclusion, Comrade Phoenis Owen, and his cohorts should note that according to Air Commodore Emeka Omeruah (Rtd) that bank of ideas are better than bank of money, therefore, Owen since your survival method is through hack-writing, you should learn how to equip yourself
