The controversy trailing the Abortion bill signed by the Imo state Government and the apology that followed have been raging. Trumpeta Reporter,Ugwu Lilian Chidubem went to town to get the views of Imolites on the matter. Excerpts:
What do you think about the signing of the
Abortion Bill by Rochas Okorocha and his apology?

For me I don’t think there is anything wrong with the bill because there is no need bringing in a child that one cannot take care of, so it not like he (Rochas) is forcing anybody to have an abortion, it is just a choice one can take when in that dilemma and you don’t know what to do you can go for an abortion.
For the apology, he shouldn’t say he was ignorant, he is in charge of everything in this state if he says he is ignorant, it means he just signed abortion into law without knowing about it J think he has his team so his apology doesn’t make sense so he should stick to what he signed.

Well, the abortion of a thing is not good before God and human and we don’t need that kind of a thing in Imo state. I thank God for the governor who has decided to say sorry for the mistake. He has shown that he is a good man, he is a humble governor, I like his character and I love what he is doing and because of that God would continue to bless him more and more. Am happy about his apology because If he is not interested in what people were saying he wouldn’t have apologized. He is a humble governor that is why he apologized.

The bill is like saying that everybody should be aborting. It is not all about rape when if a girl is raped and gets pregnant she should go and abort, what if a girl should go and abort without being raped
For his apology, first of all for him to do that kind of a thing at the first instance and start apologizing means that he didn’t think about it, he just went forward to do what he wanted to do without asking, that is why he has his commissioners and the rest, they should have told him about it.

We learnt that the bill is yet to be signed or go through the processes of signing into law. As far as such bill is concerned, the governor shouldn’t have signed. Just as you rightly said that he is apologizing that he signed it but we the citizens of Imo state we have to asked him to know whether he was mandated or if he was forced to sign it because he is supposed to reason. There is a saying that says that one has to look before leaping, it means that one day somebody could equally raise a bill saying “kill the whole citizens of Imo state” and he would go ahead and sign it. Personally, I don’t like it because that is suppose to arise at all, it is against humanity and the will of God. In the Bible it is written that it is not good to kill “thou shall not Kill”. You may say the child is in the womb but that thing in the womb is life. For you to kill that foetus you have committed a crime. After that, we will hear that he has signed same sex marriage bill because all these things are in the same line and they are from the devil, that is how the devil works these days. If he say he didn’t know when he signed it and apologizing let him repel the law.
Let it not be the issue in the Bible where Pilate said what I have written, I have written” well, his apology is acceptable if he is going to counter sign it but if he just says he is sorry and he refuses to counter sign it, it means he knew when he signed it. It is one of the charismas in politics.
