EID EL KABIR: Okorocha, Ihedioha Commend Muslims

Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha OON has admonished Imo Muslim Community to work and pray for peace and unity of the country.
Speaking through his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere MFR who received members of The Muslim Council of Imo State of Nigeria congratulated the Muslims Community while calling on them to reflect on the challenges Nigeria is going through at the moment especially in the areas of Security, Economy and Politics.
He called for all hands to be on deck to make Nigeria a place everyone can be proud of. He further challenged Muslims to work harmoniously with their brothers of different faith for a more united, peaceful and progressive Nigeria.
Governor Okorocha also called for the remember acne of those whose lives where cut short for various painful reasons. “Let us not forget our brothers and sisters who paid the ultimate prize in various challenges facing the Nation. May we pray for the repose of their souls, he enthused.
The Imo Muslim Community used the opportunity during their visit commend Governor Okorocha for his exemplary leadership, which has created inter-religious harmony in the State despite security challenges facing the country.
In his speech, the Secretary General of the Muslim body, Jibril Nwangwasim described Islam as a religion of peace as he called on all Muslims to observe this important injunction of Peace from Prophet Mohammed in practice and not in breach, while calling on other States to follow Imo paradigm, a paradigm of peaceful and inter-religious co-existence. Alhaji Jibril submits that the situation in Imo State is a function of Governor Okorocha’s broad mindedness.
In a related development, the deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha has congratulated Muslims brothers as they commence the celebration of this year’s Id-el-Karbir Sallah festival, enjoining them to ensure that peace, order and love for one another remain their watchwords during the Sallah season and thereafter.
In his Sallah message to commemorate this year’s Id-el-Karbir celebration, the Deputy Speaker urged Muslims to emulate the exemplary life of Prophet Mohammed by demonstrating the virtues of charity, gratitude and humility noting that by so doing the whole essence of the celebration would be achieved.
He however urged Nigerians to explore the opportunity offered by the Sallah celebration to reappraise their commitment to the unity and harmony of Nigeria with a view to reinforcing their efforts towards making Nigeria a united, virile and strong nation.
He said: “for Nigeria to emerge as one of the greatest nations in the world, all the citizens both the leaders and the led must be patriotic, working together purposefully as a united entity to ensuring the attainment of greatness and nation building”.
He enjoined Nigerians to take a cue from the Super Eagles players who defeated the Ethiopian national team on Sunday in a rare show of patriotism in spite of all odds, to be dedicated to the service of fatherland. He wished Muslim a peaceful and successful celebration
