NPFL Religation Fever: Not
Yet Uhuru For Heartland Fc
…As players Unpaid entitlements may still send team down
Uneasy calm has enveloped the camp of Heartland fc over the relegation escape of the club which presently is being threatened by technical relegation.
According to reports emanating from the League Management Company (LMC), Heartland may still be relegated if the State Government who is the owner of the club fails to honor their promise by paying the sign-on-fees owed to the players before the commencement of the new league season.
It could be recalled that the players are being owed 90% of this season’s sign-on fees and 10% of last season’s which according to LMC must be paid before they can sign new players or coach in line with the new league statute.
Football critics in the State including darling fans of the Naze millionarise have expressed their worry over the recent development considering the attitude of the government on the matters concerning the club since it assumed office.
The interpretation however shows that in an event the players leave en mass as they have threatened to do, the management will not be allowed to bring in new players nor be registered for the new season which automatically means relegation if the government fails to offset the outstanding entitlements.
The situation is however not peculiar with Heartland fc alone as other clubs are equally owing the players some percentage of their sign-on-fees but that of Heartland is well documented and needs urgent attention as the league owners have put November 26 as the tentative resumption date of the new season, 2013/14.
