It almost resulted in bloodshed at Aboh Mbaise last Saturday as the Owerri zonal acting Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Nwakanma Ukah, allegedly stormed the meeting venue of the Party with tugs believed to be hired, and sacked the already existing party’s caretaker committee of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.
Nwakanma, who was accused of becoming the Owerri Zonal acting Chairman of APGA at the whim of his sister, Senator Chris Anyanwu, was said to have stormed the meeting of APGA with the hired tugs numbering over Thirty (30), brandishing dangerous objects, a scenario that caused the members of APGA to flee the arena, including the State’s acting publicity secretary, Hon. Tony Mgbeahuruike, an indigene of Aboh Mbaise.
Our correspondence gathered that the action of Nwakanma was the outcome of misinformation and brainwashing by some members of APGA who are loyal to Emeka Ihedioha’s People’s Democratic Party who are bent on occupying the party executive positions ahead of 2015.
Nwakanma was deceived to believe that the caretaker body of Aboh Mbaise APGA was loyal to Martin Agbaso instead of the senator.
According to Chief Ben Okafor a chieftain of APGA the replacement of the Nwakanma-sacked caretaker exco comprises people sighted at various PDP fora, who have sown reeds of discord in Aboh Mbaise APGA in order to deliver to PDP come 2015.
However; the action taken by Nwakanma in Aboh where he is not an indigence according to Ben Okafor lends credence to all the postulations that the senator’s is romancing with the People’s Democratic Party.
A prominent Aboh Mbaise APGA member who craved anonymity lamented that the undue interference of Nwakanma and his cohorts have left the recuperating APGA Aboh Mbaise factionalized as it’s meetings have always ended up in fiasco; calling on the APGA authorities to examine Nwakanma’s intransigencies in the party.
When Mr Nwakanma the zonal chairman of APGA, for Owerri zone was called for reaction. He denied operating with things saying that those that are being called as thugs are the real APGA members who are not happy with imposition of leaders.
The zonal chairman said that those talking about victimization are just being economical with the truth as he is not discriminating between anybody. He added that his visit at the said meeting was on invitation in line with the mobilization of members across the state to be steadfast and committed to APGA. He stressed that APGA will not allow a group of people to write list and impose it on party members as exco. He called on the aggrieved party members to retrace their steps noting that as a father of the party in the zone, he will treat all equal.
