This years mock – nations football competition has been moved toOrjiPrimary Schoolfield along the road leading to Akabo in Orji village.
According to a statement, Mr Raymond Ebede, the movement was as a result of the on going rehabilitation work that is going on at the usual venue,TownshipPrimary schoolalongWetheral Road.
Ebede stated that the organizing committee of the annual competition that started 7 years ago will be having its second meeting any time this week to decide on the mode of playing the play – offs that will involve the last placed group teams in the last edition against the new teams for a place in the group stages of the competition.
He however said the entire community of Orji welcomed the organizers and pledged their total support morally and financially promising maximum security for both the players and the spectators while the tournament lasts.
It would be recalled that Kenya in their second outing won the last edition after beating Burkina Faso who were in the finals for the second time by 2 – 0.
The final of the 2011 edition witnessed for the first time the presence of the State Governor in the person of Chief Anayo Rochas Okorocha who pledged the sum of One Million naira (I million) in support of the competition that has helped to keep our youths off social vices.
The organizers of the competition meanwhile used the opportunity to remind the loving Governor of his 1million naira pledge as it will go a long way to improve the nature and beauty of the competition.
