Despite the recent meeting with Governor Rochas Okorocha with civil servants in Imo state, the organised labour in the State has started mobilising the various unions for the planned two – day mass rally preceding the declaration of industrial action.
Workers in the State have a fortnight ago issued a threat that they would embark on an indefinite strike action.
But the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha apparently disturbed by the threat had a fruitful parley with the civil servants at the Ahiajoku Convention Centre where he reassured the workers of his cooperation.
However, things seemed to have turned sour again between the workers and the state government as the workers union rose from their meeting yesterday agreeing to meet on Thursday this week to fine–tune strategies for the 2–day mass rally before the commencement of the strike action.
The workers alleged that the Governor is implementing the Fourth – Tier Government law, otherwise known as the Community Government Council contrary to what was contained in the Bill passed into Law by the Imo State House of Assembly.
