The Orlu Elders Council under the leadership of Chief Barr. Peter C, Mgbenwelu “Dum-Dum” has called for the sack of the entire staff of Imo State chapter of the Independent Electoral Commission INEC following the recent revelations of manipulations of result of the 2015 general election, before, during and after the exercise.
Chief (Barr) Mgbenwelu in a chat with Trumpeta reporter, charged the Prof Attahiru Jege led INEC to sack the official of INEC in Imo state with immediate effect following the reported cases of the official cut re-writing the already declared results of Senator Hope Uzodimma and Rt Hon Goodluck Opiah in favour of the APC candidate, as conformed by the INEC head of operation, Mr Emeka Mbaneme.
The elder stateman warned that no such thing should be done because the authentic results of the said results are in public domain and cannot be falsified by any person or group of persons as Uzodimma and Opiah have been declared and issued certificate of return. He also stated that the victory of the duo replicated the wishes of the electorates in their constituencies, therefore have the blessings and support of the elders of Orlu zone.Speaking further Dum Dum alleged that the desperation of the APC and the unwarranted compromise by the INEC officials messed up the 11th April 2015 election in Imo as he advised both the APC and INEC to allow the wishes of the people prevail as democratic leadership is not in position. He also frowned on the alleged accepting of result written with non customized result sheets by the INEC official. “With what transpired during the 11th April election, if INEC is sincere and unbiased the exercise should have been cancelled out rightly” he stated.
